Description
Antique oak hall or kitchen cupboard or low boy dresser made in the early 1820s probably, so quite likely Georgian. Two doors with shaped, chamfered double panels open on to a shelf. Below are three small fake drawer fronts and then five actual drawers below that. It sits on shaped bracket feet.

condition
Condition is pretty good structurally: it's solid and heavy and the drawers are all in good working order. Cosmetically there are a lot of marks, scuffs, chips and knocks as you might expect from a piece this age: all to the good in our opinion.. There are some splits in the sides, as pictured; they're not moving. There's a repair to the back left foot. Here's the main thing tough: it doesn't have any handles. And no sign of having had any! The doors have a working key so can be opened with that, but the drawers (excepting the top middle one which would've had a key) have nothing and there are no holes or marks where any went. Nor do they have a cupped recess underneath. They can be pulled out well enough using their over lapping fronts but that's not ideal. Or they can all be got at if the top middle is pulled out. I just don't have enough matching handles or knobs of the right age and style (and really the 3 faux drawers should have little ones too), and I can't bring myself to put reproduction ones on, with the knowledge that it's been like this for about 200 years. I will do if asked though (for a bit more money!) and meantime it's priced reasonably to reflect that: you can find some handles or carry on its strange ways..
