Fire in a Cornfield by David Wilde. A fabulous painting by British artist David Wilde (1913-1974) from his ‘Fire’ series. Stunning mixtures of red and yellow are set against the green of the field and the blue of the sky. One can almost feel the heat of the flames as they lick around the picture . Dark imagery is a large presence in the foreground giving a sense of impish life to the raging fire. The piece is signed and titled to the front with the artists note verso. A powerful piece of work.
