This is so heavy I think this could be bog oak

This alms box has faint paint work on it
One side depicting a scull and cross bones

Fair for age and sturdy. It has had some wood worm many years ago, which is mainly in the bottom and has been treated and has long since died. It has some age splits and some lumps and bumps due to great age which adds to its charm.
