Description
This is an extremely rare and collectable novelty silver snuff box. A wonderful example, it is in the form of a military cap and is hallmarked for the first year of World War I. Representing an Officer's peaked cap, this stunning piece features a detailed strap with the top rippled at the edges to represent fabric. It is hinged at the back and opens to reveal a fully gilded interior.
This would probably have been offered as a personal and lavish gift for an Officer to take to war, as a practical memento. A fabulous and poignant piece for a collector with an eye for the unusual.
