Description
A quality neat size 18th Century (c.1770) George III antique mahogany and serpentine fronted secretaire chest. The top in well figured mahogany with stylish tea caddy fore-edge with a serpentine shaped pull-out slide beneath, with original gilded axe-head drops. The chest with a configuration of one secretaire drawer flanked by a pair of short drawers, with three drawers beneath, each has elegant rococo swan neck handles with pierced back plates and a very fine escutcheon, the secretaire drawer has two brass clasps for locking in position, felt writing slide, pigeon holes and two drawers with turn knob handles. The fore edge of the chest is canted and reeded, beneath the bottom drawer is a stylish moulding all resting on 4 elegant stylish and shaped ogee bracket feet.
