This is a superb quality early 18th century George I Period figured walnut and herringbone inlaid chest on stand. The beautifully proportioned piece is presented in the William & Mary manner. it is embellished with fabulous book-matched veneering and exquisite Herringbone cross-banded inlay to each of the 4 working drawers. All 4 good-sized drawers have decorative brass drop handles with engraved brass lock escutcheons. The whole of which is mounted upon its original William & Mary-inspired figured walnut base that terminates in wonderful turned legs together with a typical William & Mary style cross-stretcher. It is of a superb rich aged patination and colouration, this marvellous quality piece will look stunning in any setting either period or modern.
