Description
Please see my stock page for the largest selection of jewellery boxes available on this website.
Inlaid rosewood jewellery box in very fine condition. No missing or replaced veneer. Unspoilt patina. Original inlaid Mother of Pearl cartouche and escutcheon. I will not use the word ‘original’ against the various aspects of the box as aside from the key Every aspect is original. The lid closes perfectly square. Panel to the lid interior that when released via a swing clasp allows access to a ‘love letter’ envelope with side folds fully intact. (very slight/expected wear to the material by the swing clasp). The tray comprises 14 sections. No wear to the material…..pull tabs still present. Open storage space beneath the tray. The lock is in fine condition but the key supplied is not the best and if a vital requirement it is advised to get a replacement cut. The box was original made to serve as a sewing/work box but the majority of boxes of the style are now put to modern day use as jewellery boxes, the small sections in the tray and the open storage space beneath making it ideal for the purpose.
Certainly more attractive than most modern produced jewellery boxes, of superior construction than most and without doubt a better investment given the condition and degree of original features.
