Mantel Clock: Imposing 1870 French Slate Striking Mantel Clock with Grey / White Marble

An imposing and eye-catching 1870 French polished slate and marble striking mantel Clock. The well-proportioned breakfront stepped case offers creative architectural lines, with finely hand-engraved floral decoration in Sgraffito style and variegated grey / white marble overlay. The clean white enamel dial has black painted Roman numerals, finished with a pair of black Simple Roman hands secured by a pinned collet. The dial is then protected by a thick bevelled glaze, mounted in a cast brass decretive bezel. The clocks high-quality French 8-day, spring driven circular pendulum movement, is stamped with serial numbers and strikes the hours and half-hours on a nickel 'ting-bell'.
