Description
An outstanding Victorian era silver cased open-faced fusee pocket watch. This exceptional quality timepiece of good proportion, is hallmarked London 1872 and has a silver dial with machine turned Moiré pattern and a subsidiary second’s dial. Blued hands, raised Gothic style gold numerals, hand-crafted gold floral decoration, and gold outer garlanded ring.
The fusee movement with dust cap and an engraved Coventry made Star Mark of quality, has a gold balance and ruby end stone. The case maker was James Walker (“J.W”), of Albert Street, Coventry and the case and movement serial numbers are the same, “5196.”
The watch comes securely packed with a winding key, together with instructions on how to wind and set the watch time.
