Description
A very rare silver string box in the form of an apple with a hollow stalk dispensing the thread. Beautifully tactile with a lovely curved form and concave dimple base, the circular box twists open to reveal the original gilt washed interior. Novelty items were very popular in the late Victorian/early Edwardian period and this is a fine example of the time. A highly sought after piece ideal for the collector of unusual items, or as a special gift. Hallmarks to both parts.
