Description
Originally designed in the 1960s, this wonderful 'Spider' lamp is by Joe Colombo for Oluce of Milan. It combines a fabulous design aesthetic with the functionality required of a desk or table lamp.
- Designed by Cesare Colombo, also known as Joe Colombo, an Italian industrial designer who died in 1971.
- Designed for Oluce, the oldest designer lighting manufacturer in Italy, dating back to 1945.
- Designed in 1965, winner of the 1967 Compasso d’Ore and exhibited in 1972 at the Moma exhibition "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape".
- Red lacquered metal base and aluminium reflector.
- Chrome plated stem.
- Originally designed for a horizontal spot light bulb, this piece is sold with an standard bayonet fitting bulb.
- Melamine joint allows the inclination and repositioning of the reflector.
A fabulous piece for any desk or side table, but will particularly suit a mid century interior. For the buyer who appreciates the 20th century industrial design aesthetic.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There are some small chips to the base lacquer. The bulb provided is a standard shape with a bayonet fitting, rather than the hard to find horizontal spot bulb. The lamp has been PAT tested and is ready for the home.
