Large Victorian Flame Mahogany Jewellery Box + Tray c.1870

Please see my stock page for the largest selection of jewellery boxes available on this website. Large flame mahogany jewellery box in very good condition. Inlaid brass shield style escutcheon. Highly attractive grain. Contrasting veneer band to the bottom edges to all aspects of the box. All veneer is in excellent condition. The lid closes perfectly square. Original brass ‘stop’ hinges. Original lock with a replacement working key supplied. The box interior has been refurbished to a high standard. Silk ruched panel set within a silk covered frame to the lid interior. The tray comprises of 15 sections, 3 of which feature silk covered lids with ornate gilt ring pull knobs. Please note the nice finishing touch of the silk covered upper edges of the tray and all of the dividers to complement the lids and inner lid panel. The additional effort reflects the time, skills and consideration of the person that did the refurbishment. Side metal handles to assist in removing the tray to access the storage area beneath that features a lightly covered silk panel to the base. The small storage areas of the tray and large open area of the storage area beneath ensures that this box is ideal for storing both small and large items of jewellery.
