1901 Art Nouveau Sheffield Plate Cricket Trophy Shield, by Walker Hall and Sons
This is a fantastic piece, a work of art, the Oak shield has an embossed Sheffield Silver plate, in the centre of this a scene from a cricket match and around this Art Nouveau stylised Angels and other leaves etc. and was made by Walker Hall and Sons.
At the top of the cartouche there is a red leather cricket ball and around the edges engraved shields of the winners of the cup from 1901 onwards.
This is a truly beautiful piece, the shield has a stand at the back, it is in good sound condition though some of the plate has been worn away by an eager polisher.
