Description
Vintage paper dress - 1960s advertising using yellow pages. this very collectible item is framed with a glass cover.
Mass-produced paper fashion was invented by the american scott paper company in the 1960s as a marketing stunt. the paper dress being offered is a very collectible item made famous from a "mademoiselle" article in 1967 called "the big paper craze". it was sent free of charge to people as an advertising tool. at the time it became a real craze to have a paper dress. if it was too long, you could just cut it shorter with a pair of scissors. if someone became tired of wearing it or got a stain on it, it could just be thrown away, thereby making them very disposable. the major reason for their failure was that they were made of 96% cellulose and 4% cotton, making them very inflammable and, at the time, smoking was far more prevalent.
This is a real collector's item that has increased in value over the years.
