Description
Fine antique English 15 carat yellow gold and enamel Northumberland Fusiliers brooch; part of the antique jewellery and military related collections. This Northumberland fusiliers brooch has been handcrafted in 15ct yellow gold. The brooch is modelled in the form of a fusil, depicting the emblem of the Northumberland Fusiliers, George and the dragon encircled by a dark blue enamel border displaying the words 'Northumberland Fusiliers'*. This antique brooch is clearly hallmarked (15ct) to the bar and is secured to the rear with a pin style fastening with an additional safety clip and link chain. * The 5th Northumberland Regiment of Foot was redesignated the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1881.This title was held until 1935, when it was prefixed with the word Royal. Latterly, since 1968 the regiment has been identified as the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Origin: England
