Antique Azeri Tribal Long Rug - North West Persia

North West Persia, Persian Azerbaijan Frontier. Last Quarter 19th Century. This is an interesting long rug or kelleh as they are referred to with plenty of tribal motifs including a pair of Peacocks, human figures, combs, geometric and star shaped rosettes, plant forms all centred around four central hooked shaped diamonds. It's colour ways have a very "moody" pleasing presence which i like thats why it is overlaid on a carpet in my bedroom until it gets sold. It has been handwashed and de-dusted and has all over low pile with some wear and tinting to right side peacock area with hessian patches to verso, all imaged and bottom end outer guard stripe loss but even with all ends and sides secured. Overall it is in very tidy condition and perfectly useable, over 20 hours of restoration work on this rug. Those facts aside it more than makes up for in it's overall look with interesting tribal motifs for a carpet that is over 130 years old!
