Antique Burr Walnut Cased French Silver Sewing Etui / Set c.1880

Offered for your consideration is this fine antique sewing etui dating circa 1880 and most likely of French origin. The set consists of a beautiful wooden oval case which I believe is burr walnut. The case has decorative brass applique on the lid and sides and has brass push in catch. It opens to a wine silk and fitted plush interior. Inside the case are silver gilt sewing implements including a lidded needle case, scissors, stiletto, finger guard thimble, crotchet hook and a bone handled tool which is probably a replacement. The sewing case measures 14 cm by 8.5 cm at it widest points and the set is offered in very good condition with no damage to the box which also has clean interior. The implements have some light wear to the gilt finish and some age related tarnish to the steel parts. Wonderful antique set! Thank you for your interest.
