This is an antique cased microscope. An English, enamelled metal and brass scientific instrument by J. Swift & Son of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Presented in a quality case, the microscope of appealing Victorian craftsmanship displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order throughout. Black enamelled stand contrasting with the bright polished brass instrument. Quality carry box shows rich caramel hues with inset lock — key absent. Extending eyepiece tube over a rack and pinion main focus rail. Three slot nosepiece resides above a square stage with rotary slide holders. Stage engraved with a fine measuring grid. Trio of accessory objective lenses resting within the case. Bright, good quality rotating mirror beneath the slide holder. Engraved to the rear with J. Swift & Son London maker's mark.
