This is a stunning hand carved Thai table with amazing detail and a wonderful central panel depiction of the deposing of Ratsadatgirat, 12th King of Ayuttaya, an ancient kingdom in Thailand. He succeeded his father to the throne at the age of five in 1533 and was put to death by his relative Chairachathirat after being on the throne for only 5 months. The execution was done according to Palace law that is by covering the young King with a red sack before striking his neck with a sandalwood club.
The table dates from around 1900 and is in excellent condition with only a few minor losses to the outer rim that are not really that noticeable. The carved detail is exceptional and this has a wonderful rich colour and good sound condition overall.
A very useful size this measures 66cms high and 65 cms in diameter.
