An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian sterling silver and enamel vesta case; an addition to our collection of novelty vesta cases. This exceptional and rare antique Edwardian sterling silver vesta case has a plain rectangular rounded form. The anterior surface is embellished with a hot enamel panel depicting five playing cards creating a straight royal flush. The posterior surface and sides of this antique vesta case are plain and unembellished. This unusual silver and enamel novelty vesta case has a push fit cover, incorporating a hidden compartment to the interior. The plateau of the cover incorporates an integrated serrated panel/match striker. Such enamel examples incorporating a secret compartment, creating a trick box, are rare to the marking and becoming increasingly difficult to locate. This antique silver playing card vesta case with enamel is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The enamel is in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the side of the body are clear in keeping with age and use. The part hallmarks to the interior of each compart are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this Edwardian silver vesta case with enamel.
