Description
This is an antique gun slip case. An English, leather leg of mutton shotgun or rifle sleeve, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Superb, antique country pursuits gun case in traditional form that displays a desirable aged patina an din good original order. Quality leather in deep caramel hues and a lightly time worn appearance. Replete with carry handle, and an adjustable shoulder strap.
Case secured by a sliding brass clasp behind a protective cover strap. Dual division interior, to accommodate the stock and barrel respectively. Interior finished in a Royal Blue baize, aged commensurate with use. Embossed with the Army & Navy Stores Co-operative Society roundel. Unmarked as such, but of similar size to the 'Hurlingham' model.
