Antique Halden & Co Ltd Scale Rule/Rulers Set c.1910

A rare complete set of Halden boxwood engine divided scale rules/rulers in mahogany case with original key c.1910. Boxwood scale rule or ruler set comprising six 12" rulers, marked "J. Halden & Co Ltd, Manchester, London, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds," "Engine Divided," "Feet," and "10, "20," "30," "40," "50," and "60" respectively. Together with six 2" ruler segments, five marked "J. Halden & Co Ltd," and one marked "Halden & Co, Manchester & London," "Feet," and "10" through to "60." All contained within a mahogany case with lock and key, brass escutcheon, and brass cartouche to lid marked "Clapperton." Case lined in dark blue velvet with original tissue insert to lid. This is a complete set, though the "50" ruler segment dates from around 1900 - indeed this may have been in place since production. The set as a whole shows very little sign of use.
