Antique Low Back Windsor Chair, English, Elm, Yew, Elbow, Armchair c.1850

This is an antique low back Windsor chair. An English, elm and yew elbow or armchair, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850. Superb country house appeal, in the attractive Windsor form that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Elm and yew stocks show fine grain interest throughout. Appealing in colour with eye-catching deep caramel hues. The shaped top rail narrows gracefully as it meets the horse shoe arm. A pierced, shaped back splat sits between slender spindles. Aforementioned horse shoe arms supported at the leading edge by turned balusters. Traditional, carved saddle seat with gently recessed squab. Raised upon turned and splayed legs, with collared knees United by a striking crinoline stretcher with turned spindles. Standing upon a pair of tall circular feet at the front.
