Antique Saddle Bag Face. Afshar Tribes Of Southern Persia,circa 1900

Afshar Bag Face. First Quarter 20th Century. (1900-1925). Was in a bit of a sorry state when i acquired it along with a large tribal collection of these artefacts. Was a 50/50 decision on whether to spend time tidying it up or not, glad I did because oh boy you can't fail to be drawn by the central rectangular motif with a boteh to the centre. I gather a powerful tribal symbol of its day. I have eaten my breakfast off it, hung it on a wall and used it for the cover of a back of a chair, all imaged. Such as is the versatility of these weavings. Condition wise; low pile with bits of moth damage, end losses but now blanket stitched. Side cords rebound in dark brown wool and some tinting of the pile to tidy it up. In no way perfect condition but i thought worth the time and effort it duly deserves. Size is 1 foot 4 inches, (42cm) high, 2 foot 2 inches, (67cm) wide. Wool pile hand knotted onto cotton foundations with wefts dyed light pink. I am sure it will look stunning whatever anyone chooses to do with it! Priced accordingly @ only £250 GBP.
