Description
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. Although Stauffer & Co produced movements in their own right, they also sourced a smaller number of movements from Iwc and possibly from other watch companies. This particular movement has the Stauffer & Co mark, together with the Peerless name which tells us that the movement was made by Iwc (International Watch Company).
The Iwc serial number of 464130 dates it back to around 1910. There is also an Iwc patent number of 31457 which relates to a 1905 design for a ‘device for limiting the winding of barrel watch movement’.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some slight unevenness.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark) 1910 with a sponsor’s mark for Charles Nicolet, a director of Stauffer & Co in London.
Overall, the case is in good condition with just a little unevenness to the back but not too detrimental at all.
The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is in beautiful condition with pin-set blued steel hands.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
