Antique Student Microscope

This is a good example of a small brass microscope dating from the early 20th Century, complete with a stacking objective lenses and two eyepiece lenses. The microscope itself is made of brass and is a typical design with a tubular body. There is a rack and pinion focus on the rear of the tube and the top part of the tube can also be extended to provide a finer focus. It has a square stage with a mirror below to direct the light and a revolving pin wheel. It has a heavy Y-shaped foot painted in a green coloured paint. The microscope appears to be in good working order and I have set it up and tested it with a few old slides. I'm sure the lenses would probably benefit from a clean but they produced a clear image all the same and the microscope was easy to focus. The microscope comes with its original wooden fitted box. The box is strong and sturdy but has a few knocks and old splits. The lock has been removed and a brass latch has been fitted on the front to keep it closed.
