Very nice mid 19th Century Victorian antique rosewood open bookcase with cupboard in overall very good condition.
Comprising open book trough to the top, decorative classic cornice, three height adjustable shelves. Lower section with twin upper opening drawers and twin lower carved fronted opening cupboard doors revealing shelf interior.
The Victorian period of furniture and decorative arts design covers the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901.
There was not one dominant style of furniture in the Victorian period. Designers used and modified many historical styles such as Gothic, Tudor, Elizabethan, English Rococo, Neoclassical and others, although use of some styles, such as English Rococo and Gothic tended to dominate the furniture manufacture of the period.
Rare and attractive bookcase is in very good vintage order.
It provides a great place to display and because it fits into any room.
Age related wear which is expected but this all adds to its character. These excellent piece is a beautiful example and one not to be missed
