Description
Very attractive Victorian solid silver anchor fob with compass hallmarked for Birmingham 1889.
Solid silver anchor watch fob or pendant inset with silver-plated compass marked with cardinals and intercardinals, arrow indicating north, the blued steel needle of unusual 'skeleton' pattern, suspended on brass pivot. The verso of compass with flower design. Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, anchor for Birmingham, date letter "p" for 1889, and maker "J.W."
The compass swinging freely, finding north easily. The verso of compass with traces of original silver-plating.
In good antique condition, a wonderful gift for an anniversary, birthday or Christmas.
