Description
We are delighted to offer this beautiful and decorative Victorian solid silver mug cup made in London by Martin, Hall & Co 1868.
This piece is a fabulous example of a modestly sized yet exquisitely decorated Victorian mug which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical. The mug features a wonderful Abercorn/pineapple design with fine stippling in between.
The interior is gilt (gold on top of solid silver) which protects the silver from tarnishing, especially with content that may be held within. As such the mug can be used practically even today as a wonderful way to enjoy a drink in the most opulent fashion.
Such a combination of opulence and ornateness makes it equally a complimentary piece of interior decor. Whether as a single accenting piece or amongst antiques, this may just be the perfect piece to highlight and elevate the ambience of an interior.
Overall, a very decorative and opulent mug ideal for collections or for practical usage. Whether be it as a treat for yourself or as a gift for someone special, this mug certainly is a unique and fine example of a Victorian silverware.
The mug is hallmarked with full English marks on the side however is worn and the maker's mark and date letter are indistinct.
