I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop in Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
This is an original aquatint of The Battle of Albuera, published in 1815 by James Jenkins as part of the volume "Martial Achievements of Great Britian & her Allies 1799-1815". Aquatint by T Sutherland after painting by W Heath. Excellent colour.
Said to have been the bloodiest battle of the Peninsular War, the battle took place on 16th May 1811 when Marshal Soult (acting on Napoleon's orders) sought to relieve the siege of Badajoz. Wellington sent a powerful Anglo-Portuguese corps under Sir William Beresford to resist, and the French were forced to retreat.
Nb:- We have several other aquatints from this publication available- search for "military interest" items
