Description
(All text, heading, information and photographs within this listing are the intellectual property and copyright of; riversidemaximus23 and was written by myself and not AI) Gentleman's highly impressive Swiss Arnex 'Carronade' pocket watch with fabulous golden gilt skeleton visible movement in a 12ct gold plated case (professionally tested) which has black enamelled Roman numerals to front bezel. Looks to have been much loved and very well taken care of - her condition certainly reflects this. Full working order and is an excellent timekeeper with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in the central position) for any further fine tuning. Fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker and is guaranteed to be 100% authentic - a timepiece to grace any collection! Dial:- Impressive and distinctive golden gilt skeleton dial which allows you to see the full workings of the movement. Original black steel double spade hands and original black steel arrow tip seconds hand all in straight, un-marked order. Original slightly domed crystals to front and back in amazingly clear and bright condition with just some very light and fine little surface scratches (showing under eyeglass only) commensurate with age. Case:- The highly polished (mirror finish) 14 size gold plated case (4.5cm diameter / 5.8cm from top of bow to base) has a pleasing solid feel in the hand (total watch weight is 41.7 grams), robust and in lovely condition (please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures, was extremely difficult to photograph) - absolutely no indentations, tiny bit of wear to high points only and just a few very light little overall surface scratches commensurate with age and use in her 45 years service. The front bezel and back cover snap on and off correctly, closing tightly with a very reassuring click. Movement:- The stem wound and set golden gilt Swiss 17 jewel lever movement is in clean and bright order and as mentioned above has just been fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watch maker. Beautifully adorned to the top plates with an attractive engine turned geometric design which is as bright and crisp today as the day it was made. Stamped clearly around the mainspring barrel cover in blue arched script; Seventeen Jewels Unadjusted Swiss Made and stamped (again in blue arched script) around the ratchet barrel cover; Arnex. Balance action is tremendous in all positions and is keeping excellent time (lovely soothing tick) with a sure, strong positive action - runs like a train. Winds extremely smoothly and fully (do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth!) Hand set operates smoothly and correctly - the pull up, push down action is very firm and true. Lovely original crisp flat topped 'onion' crown. Good original large firm horseshoe shaped bow (little bit of overall wear from being carried on a watch chain). Box:- Complete with her original navy blue rigid display/presentation box which carries silver banding to the front, navy blue velveteen to internal base (with the traditional recess to securely place the watch) and ivory coloured satin to the internal lid which is stamped boldly in silver script; Carronade. Sadly the lid has become detached from the hinges and is now being held by the satin lining. Original receipt dated 25.10.79 (25th October 1979) which is stamped; Collingwood, Wakefield, Yorks. Appraisal:- A very handsome and highly unusual Gentleman's Swiss Arnex timepiece which as mentioned earlier was much loved and proudly cared for by the original owner - will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations! Ready to wear or display. Will be delivered securely and safely packed.
