Description
A rare opportunity to acquire a bell striking, twin fusee, London wall clock. These are seldom found. This is an outstanding example with every facet one would look for in this type of clock.
The high quality mahogany case has a beautiful. age related patina. It has sound-fretted inspection doors to both sides and a key lockable, cock beaded door to the underside. It's narrow surround adds elegance to the overall appearance of the clock.
The 8 day, 5 pillar, twin chain driven fusee movement has just been completely overhauled by our own, Bhi registered horologist and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee.
The 12" cream coloured dial has black Roman numerals and is clearly signed by the maker, "J. Toms & Co. Kensington". He is recorded in Loomes "Clock makers of the World" as working in London around 1818.
The dial is completed by a heavy cast brass bezel with a silvered sight ring. The quality of this clock cannot be overstated. Please note that our photos fail to show it's true beauty. Complete with winding key and ready to go straight to work.
