A high quality early example of a French carriage clock by noted maker Bolvillier of Paris. An enamel dial with fine 'moon' blued steel hands and signed beneath. A well cast case rococo style case with floral decorations and caryatid female figures to the side columns and handle. An 8-day duration mechanism with 1/2 hour and hour bell striking. Winding shutters to the rear door and signed to the mechanism backplate 'Bolvillier a Paris' and numbered W611. The original escapement.
An identical example is illustrated in Derek Roberts 'Carriage and Other Travelling Clocks' book on page 101. Another 2 fine examples are shown in the book by Bolvillier of Paris.
