Fine Victortian Walnut & Inlaid Jewellery / Sewing Box

A fine quality Victorian burr walnut jewellery box, the top and front with inlaid marquetry lines, the canted corners banded in tulipwood. The top has a vacant rectangular brass cartouche with further marquetry, the front with matching square escutcheon. The box has been cleaned and professionally French polished. The box opens to reveal the original interior in remarkably clean and tidy condition, the lift-out tray lined in silvered paper with purple silk covers, the top with a ruched silk padded panel now fixed into position. Please note all the fabric is the same colour - the lid has come out a blueish tint for some reason. With working lock & key. 30cm x 22.5cm x 14cm high.
