Description
A scarce example of a small early 19th century antique English Georgian blue and white transfer pottery platter, decorated in a dark blue palette with the "Classical Ruins" pattern, the reverse with tiny impressed circular mark, otherwise unmarked but attributable to Thomas Lakin of Stoke { 1812 - 1817 }.
Williams, { Antique Blue and White Spode }, suggests that the pyramid illustrated in the picture is probably the Caius Cestius monument built in Rome circa 30 B.C.
