I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop in Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
A hand coloured etching of Lymouth Harbour, on the edge of Exmoor in Devon, by Henry George Walker (1876-1932) from ca 1920s. The so-called Rhenish Tower at the end of the Quay is still there. It was built in the 1860s to provide salt water for indoor baths but was later fitted with a light to provide a beacon. It was badly damaged in the floods of 1952 and partially rebuilt. Signed by the artist lower right, and on the plate.
HG Walker was born in 1876 in the Birchfield area of Birmingham, where his father was in the coal trade. From 1897-1901 he attended the well-known Birmingham Municipal School of Art, now part of the University of Central England. He then worked from home as a freelance designer and commercial line artist. He was active as an etcher from around 1921, when he first exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society and concentrated mainly on architectural and topographical subjects in the South West.
