Important Art Nouveau Inlaid Display Cabinet 1900’s

This exceptional Art Nouveau cabinet, crafted by A. Gardener & Son, Cabinet Makers, 36 Jamaica St., Glasgow, exemplifies the remarkable design and craftsmanship of the period. It bears strong influences from the Glasgow School and the renowned Majorelle, making it a striking piece with outstanding provenance. The cabinet features four fish accents, seemingly made of thin pewter, and intricate inlays depicting flowing water lilies or stylized elongated mushrooms, reflecting a distinct McIntosh aesthetic. The mirrors, including the bevelled glass in the central door, further highlight the quality and artistry of the piece. The two central shelves are elegantly shaped from mahogany and retain their original velvet covering. Additionally, all three door locks function with a single key. This significant cabinet is offered in its original, unrestored condition, allowing its authentic character and craftsmanship to shine through.
