Eau de Cologne – the origins of the world-famous perfume can be traced back to Johann Maria Farina and his little perfume factory on the former Jülichs Sq. Cologne…hence its name…. The Italian perfumer called the scent he developed in Cologne in 1708 “Italian spring morning”. Later he managed to establish the scent as a must-have in the world of the rich. His most famous customers were King Ludwig Xv. in Versailles, King Frederick the Great in Potsdam and Empress Maria Theresia in Vienna.
