Karabagh or Armenian Kazak Rug

This is a good early 20th century antique South Caucasian Karabagh or Armenian Kazak rug. Beautiful colours with Bird & Dog motifs. All woollen south caucasian weaving featuring downward rows of bird and dog motifs on this claret/dark burgundy ground colour. interesting limey green/yellow colour with a star rosette main border on an ivory ground. benefits from its original wool knotted fringes and notice the herringbone weave to both ends just above the fringes, all imaged. It has been hand-washed (see last two images). All over low even pile. Side cords double bound in light blue wool. Full wool fringes. All woollen hand-knotted construction.
