Description
A wonderful size planter, this ceramic French olive jar is half a metre tall and dates to the early 20th century.
- Two lugs or handles.
- Lovely creamy grey colour, with a smooth glossy glaze.
- Ridged ring design in the ceramic around the top of the body.
- Stamped with small lozenges into the ceramic in two places, these presumably relating to the olive harvest from their original use.
- Five holes drilled into the bottom to allow drainage when in use as a planter.
This will look wonderful with a small bay tree or other large plant, either outside or in a large conservatory.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There are a couple of minor small chips to the ceramic on the edge of the base and one to the body, and some nibbles to the rim, but these are unobtrusive and mainly weathered.
