Large Mahogany Jewellery Box + Fitted Tray c.1850

Inlaid brass escutcheon. Ornate brass hoop side handles. No missing or replaced veneer. No shrinkage splits. Subtle cross grain borders with quadrants to the corners to Every aspect of the box rather than merely to the top and front. The lid closes perfectly square. Brass ‘stop’ hinges and lock in excellent condition with a working key supplied. The interior has been relined to a high standard. Features padded centre to the lid interior with outer frame to complement the base section lining. The tray has side metal handles and features 19 storage sections with the centre 3 sections with removable lids and gilt finish hoop handles. Please note the nice finishing touch of the material to all of the top edges of the tray…an indication of standard of finishing. Large storage section beneath the tray for those larger items and small jewellery boxes with padded base. A fine looking piece of Victorian woodenware.
