Description
A very good quality late 19th Century (c.1880) antique mahogany shop counter display cabinet for Allen & Hanbury's of London. It has removeable shelves that rest on brass brackets, etched glass lettering on the inside and a mirrored back that provides access to the inside of the cabinet. All original, lovely condition.
Allen & Hanbury were founded in 1715 and they were a pharmaceutical manufacturer and later manufactured surgical instruments and appliances.
This lovely cabinet was used to display their "delectable" throat pastilles and wold look wonderful displayed in a kitchen.
The cabinet was manufactured by John Knox of Evesham, Worcester.
