Description
Victorian British fine art oil painting on canvas Lady Farmers Wife Feeding The Doves in Country Garden by Ernest Charles Walbourn.
Impress your clients & guests with this genre masterpiece to display on your office or home wall space.
Title “Lady Farmers Wife in Garden Feeding the Doves” by Ernest Charles Walbourn.
Set in a fancy decorative frame which enhances this artwork further.
In our opinion this is among his rather fine works.
Subject genre scene of an elegant fine young lady, dressed in her country working clothing, her hair is tied back in a bun & she is leaning against her white farm cottage garden flower bed stone wall, holding a small wooden bowl of seeds, she is looking down with love towards the birds gathered who are feeding, a bevy of dove birds, 4 doves are on the ground and 1 is in mid flight about to land, there is a 6th dove further back flying towards her. Her front garden farm kitchen window is open, next to it is a rather beautiful cherry blossom tree which is blooming, behind her are green foliage climbers, over to the right is a milk pale bucket by a stone wall, a feeding trough is just below, obscured buildings can be seen further back, along with other trees & hedges. In the distant background you can see the sea and shoreline cliffs, above grey cloudy overcast sky. The colour hues are so bright, light & vibrant.
Signed by the known British artist Ernest Charles Walbourn.
Having such beautiful detail.
Biography Ernest Charles Walbourn a known British artist who was born on the 16th February 1872 in Dalston, Middlesex - 29 June 1927) was a British landscape painter of rural and farming scenes. He was the second of five children and was educated locally. His father owned property in Tasmania Australia, he initially was reluctant of his sons artistic ambitions, though later on he did help him with setting up a studio at the family home and he also funded his art training. In 1895 he moved to Chingford in Essex where he started to exhibit his works at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
From 1897 his paintings were shown at the Royal Academy as well as the Royal Society of British Artists. His works were well received, with many being sold through the London art dealers, W. W. Sampson & Louis Wolfe. In 1906, he married his love Eva Gardner who helped him as she painted backgrounds of some of his larger works, later achieving recognition in her own right. He died on the 29th June in 1927. His paintings have been sold at auction houses around the world with the current highest sold price which was $30,502 Us dollars for the work Feeding the ducks.
