Pair of Modernist Art Deco Cantilever Armchairs by P. E. Gane c.1935

So pleasing to find a pair of these cantilever armchairs by renowned company P.E. Gane of Bristol, both chairs having the little ivorine design number to the underside of the frame and looking spot on with the influence of Marcel Breuer who worked alongside the company, certainly evident in the style. The armchairs are of good scale. Larger than most and offer not only a great look but also a great amount of comfort. They sit in good order - no splits to the bentwood steam frame just day to day knocks and bumps. The chain sprung seats are currently in a thick “country rose” patterned fabric which is in good condition and perfectly serviceable if you wish. Mark our upholsterer could reupholster at a cost of £400 plus Vat per chair plus you would require around 3 meters of fabric per chair. Let us know when purchasing if you wish to take that route. Both chairs have a slight aged tilt to one side - not affecting their use or look but worth a mention. Ready to enjoy and chill in style.
