Description
The watch has a 15 jewel Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. This particular movement was imported by Dimier Freres and has their brand name Selex, a name registered by the company in 1925. The movement would then have been cased up to be bought by Kays to be sold under their name.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model made by the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific supplier of cases to various watch makers. The case is in nice condition with only general light marking.
The acrylic lens has very light marking but overall is in nice condition.
The dial is in nice condition and has gold hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. The dial is signed Kays, Keyless, Triumph.
William Kay set up Kays of Worcester in 1890. Customers bought items from handbills in a folder and initially the goods on offer were limited to jewellery, watches, clocks and household items. Eventually William’s son Jack took over the running of the business. The company continued to expand and trade successfully, becoming one of Worcester’s largest employers.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a Vat registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
