Antique silver half hunter pocket watch, Edinburgh.
The watch has a Coventry stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the details of the original retailer, W B Aitcherson, 60 Leith Street, Edinburgh, and it is all protected by an inner cover which has a few short light scratches.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for the Coventry silversmith and case maker Charles Harris, together with a date of London 1893. The case is in good condition, three small indentations to the front and five pin prick indentations to the back of the watch. The front cover has a small lens surrounded by blue enamel filled Roman numerals.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass lens which is in lovely condition.
The dial looks good to the naked eye, with pin-set blued steel hands including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed. There is a short very faint hairline between 10 and 11.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
All prices include UK postage (excluding Northern Ireland).
