UK Postage Only For This Item
The watch has a Swiss chronograph movement which is working nicely. The movement is unsigned but has been confirmed as by Stauffer & Co. It is all protected by an inner hinged cover which is engraved with the wording, ‘Examined by Goldsmiths Company, 112 Regent St, London’.
The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental marks for 935 silver inside both of the case backs. The front and sides of the case are in good condition. The hinged case back has a few little marks and a little unevenness but nothing too serious. The cartouche has the initials of a previous owner.
The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands. A subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock for constant seconds, and another at 12 o’clock to record up to 60 minutes… the hand on this sub dial moves anti clockwise to indicate the minutes elapsed… this, and the curved arrow, are often seen on Stauffer chronographs. There is also an outer scale with ‘miles per hour from 1/4 mile distances’ to measure distance and speed, this often suggests that the watch may have had a sporting / motor racing application.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
All prices include UK postage (excluding Northern Ireland).
