This fine red boulle corner cabinet is undoubtedly the best I have ever seen being in absolutely pristine original condition and having a fabulous rich colour throughout. The cabinet dates from the late 19th century circa 1890 and has a very striking and decorative design with a good deep serpentine shape and spectacular red boulle panels beautifully inlaid with highly ornate brass work.
The piece has beautiful bronze ormolu mounts throughout, with caryatids to the angled corners above stylised crown mounts and decorative acanthus style cappings to the scroll bracket feet. The clean white marble top sits into a gilt bronze frieze and the cabinet has its original ormolu mounts to the door, with escutcheon and original working lock and key.
It’s hard to imagine that you could find a better example!
