Description
This is a stunning Tigerwood and solid silver ceremonial or presentation walking stick or cane made in India of super rare tigerwood wrapped with thick panels of decorated solid silver. No marks but has been tested. Thick heavily decorated handle with a plain pommel to the top. The shaft is then decorated with panels of more decorated silver and a silver plain collar. Even the elaborate ferrule is silver and decorated. The silver is in tick sheets that have been wrapped and fixed around the shaft, please see the pictures. I'm guessing this was for ceremonial or presentation purposes as the silver ferrule is totally impractical for general use and shows no signs or real wear. The tigerwood comes from the upland forest of central and south America, Brazil being the largest exporter. The grain pattern is extraordinary and looks stunning. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
measurements
It measures 92cm (36 1/4 inches) in length, the pommel is 3.2cm (1 1/4 inches) wide and 10.5cm long. The plain collar is 1.5cm (9/16 inch) and the matched pair of silver panels are 6cm (2 3/8 inches) wide. The ferrule is 7.6cm (3 inches) long.
