Regency brass inlaid bracket clock
This Regency brass inlaid bracket clock was made circa 1810 in the workshops of John Charles of Portsea.
This lovely clock comes with the matching wall bracket, that is also brass inlaid.
The enamel circular dial with the Roman numerals and 2 key wind holes.
The clock winds with a key, this winds the barrels so that they in turn power the clock.
It strikes on a bell every hour counting out the hour of the day.
The case has the original gilt brass pineapple finial that sits at the summit of the case.
At the sides are attractive carrying handles and the brass grills with the red silk covering. The grills allow for the sound of the bell and pendulum to be heard. The soft beat of the pendulum is particularly appealing.
The brass double fusee movement with the early feature of the backplate having drop- shoulders. The backplate and pendulum having fine engraving.
The front of the mahogany case has inlaid panels of brass inlay.
It stands on solid brass ball feet.
